Hi, I’m

Kalathmi
Pathiraja

4th year Economics & Computer Science student, University of Alberta.

I like turning financial and economic questions into working code: models, simulations, and platforms that make analysis faster to run and easier to trust.

About

My interest sits between finance, economics, and engineering: the kind of work where a clean answer only earns its keep once someone has shipped it as something people can use.

Quick intro

I'm pursuing a combined degree in Economics and Computer Science. Most of what I build starts as a spreadsheet or a research question and ends up as a tool: a backtest, a dashboard, an app someone can actually click through.

Selected client, internship, and academic work in analysis, writing, and visual storytelling.

LTIP instrument valuation model: simulated 60-day average share price paths with hurdle summary table

LTIP Instrument Valuation Model

Hugessen · Advisory Platform

A stochastic valuation tool for equity-based incentive awards, using Monte Carlo simulation and geometric Brownian motion to price awards against performance hurdles more accurately than traditional static valuation methods.

STIP payout tool: payout multiplier curve against performance achievement with threshold, target, and cap controls

STIP Payout Tool

Hugessen · Advisory Platform

Models short-term incentive payout curves against performance achievement, letting plan designers adjust the underlying thresholds and caps and see how the payout shape responds in real time.

LTIP payout tool: bear, base, and bull scenario tiles with a vehicle composition chart showing payout distribution across RSU, PSU, and options

LTIP Payout Tool

Hugessen · Advisory Platform

Projects long-term incentive value across a range of market scenarios, breaking the payout down by award type so plan designers can see how outcomes shift with performance and market conditions.

WCS Crude Oil Price Scenarios 2025

WCS Crude Oil Prices

Alberta energy series · 1 of 3

Western Canadian Select benchmark pricing over time: the starting point for understanding Alberta's energy revenue and the persistent WCS–WTI differential driven by landlocked supply and pipeline constraints.

Alberta Energy Merit Order

Alberta Merit Order

Alberta energy series · 2 of 3

The merit order stacks generation sources by marginal cost, showing how natural gas, coal, wind, and hydro compete to set the pool price. The shape of this curve explains why price spikes happen and when renewables start displacing thermal generation.

Alberta Pool Price by Month 2025

Alberta Pool Price by Month

Alberta energy series · 3 of 3

Monthly average pool prices expose the seasonality and volatility baked into Alberta's deregulated electricity market. Read alongside the merit order and WCS series, the three charts trace how oil revenues, generation mix, and spot prices interact across the province's energy economy.
